about.

Europe is at a crossroads. Caught between geopolitical rivalry, rising nationalism, and compounding economic, environmental and social crises, the conversation about the continent's future has never felt more urgent or more uncertain. Why Europe Matters travels from London to Vienna, Paris to Warsaw, speaking with leading thinkers, policymakers and advocates whose diagnosis is sombre but whose conviction is clear: a stronger Europe is not only necessary, it is within reach. This is a film about threats, but more than that, about agency. About what Europe can still choose to be.

The idea came from Anu Bradford, who approached us with the Istituto Affari Internazionali and Columbia Law School with a question she wanted answered on film: at a moment when Europe's relevance is openly contested, what is the case for it still mattering? We moved fast, organising contributors across multiple countries and conducting the interviews that would become the spine of the film before any structure was locked. We trusted that if we captured the right conversations with the right people, the argument would reveal itself in the material, and it did. The film was built in the edit, its through-line earned from what the contributors actually said rather than imposed on it.

A project of this scope brings logistical problems dressed up as creative ones: contributors scattered across cities and institutions, interview windows measured in minutes, and partner organisations with legitimate stakes in the outcome. We absorbed that complexity on our side, preparing rigorously for every conversation, sharing cuts at deliberate milestones, and shaping the film methodically around the material. The result is a documentary that holds together: the argument lands, the contributors feel of a piece, and the film moves at a pace that respects both its subject and its viewer.

Beyond the film itself, we built a full promotional package to bring audiences in. The trailer was treated as a standalone piece of editorial work, paced to build rather than shout, leaving the viewer wanting the argument rather than feeling they had already been given it. For social, we produced platform-native cutdowns, wrote the caption suites, configured the YouTube premiere, and handled the launch sequence across the partner institutions' channels so the film landed everywhere at once.
